|Smart Lock in Airbnb-User's Guide|
The FingerTec Smart Lock Series is a range of Bluetooth enabled locks where certain models have up to a total of 5 options to unlock the door: smartphone access via Bluetooth 4.0, RFID card, password, key and fingerprint. The first option is most appropriate for temporary guests, whereby you have to install the i-TimeTec Mobile App in order to send unlock signal via Bluetooth to the Smart Lock.
Discuss this with the Host so that they can consider whether they are able to accommodate your request. When they agree to give you more time, the Host can always change your permitted Temporary Access time window in the settings so that you will be able to unlock the door earlier and later than the initial allocated time.
Yes, the FingerTec Smart Lock itself works offline via Bluetooth. If you temporarily lose Internet connection on your phone, as long as you manage to login to the App (and keep it running), you can still operate in an Offline mode by referring to the last updated records. However due to security reasons, this is only allowed for a short duration. If you somehow run into an extended problem with Internet connection, not to worry, the Host can still arrange to provide you with a password or ID card for verification and access.
Check your Bluetooth function and if that has already been enabled, check the Lock icon on the Unlock Door screen. If it is displayed in red, this means you are outside the permitted time frame for door access. Please contact your Host as soon as possible.
Yes, normal users will be able to see their own Door Activity details in an upcoming module called Access Records. This is currently still in development phase and will be released in the near future. Besides that, the Host/ Admin will also be able to see activity details in their Access Records and Notification module, such as the Date and Time for each instance a Smart Lock is unlocked by users.
Well, if you are not staying there alone, you can borrow your companion’s phone to install the App and unlock the door with your account, assuming the Host only added you as a user. The FingerTec Smart Lock installed by your Host may also come with other options to unlock the door: RFID card, password, key and fingerprint. So don’t worry, if you suddenly can’t use the App, your Host would have prepared a contingency plan to handle this, e.g. provided spare phone/ password/ ID card or even mechanical key for access.
The Owner/ Host will usually ensure the battery is replaced before this happens. Even if you hear this, no problem, after the low battery alarm is triggered, the lock will still operate and will only be out of battery in approximately 200 operations. However, we recommend to change the batteries as soon as possible. The lock uses four alkaline AA batteries so there’s probably some spare kept in the house just for this purpose.
